Another Broken Egg CEO Talks Superhero Skills and Why He’d Stockpile Twizzlers

In her monthly "Grab Bag" column, Editor in Chief Laura Michaels asks the tough questions—What superhero power would you most like to have? What’s the weirdest thing you’ve ever eaten?—to show a side of franchising execs you don’t normally see.

Who would play you in the biopic about your life?

Mark Wahlberg. I’m a fan of his and I resemble him physically. If I think about his role in ‘Invincible,’ where he’s a walk-on receiver for the Eagles, he’s just so positive and resilient.

When you were a kid, what did you want to be when you grew up?

I wanted to be a pilot. I wanted to fly jets. I actually applied to the Air Force Academy but I didn’t get accepted. Maybe that’s why now I fly so much. Last year I had something like 130 flights.

What’s your biggest pet peeve?

There’s a couple. One is when someone emails a group of people and they don’t know or care about the difference between the ‘To’ line and ‘Cc,’ and they don’t need a response from everyone. It’s frustrating. Or when someone emails and asks you to do something and they don’t give a deadline.

What’s something you would seriously stockpile if you found out it wasn’t going to be sold anymore?

Twizzlers. I have a huge sweet tooth and am a huge fan of Twizzlers. Strawberry, not black licorice. I did live in California so I also like Red Vines. I’m an equal opportunity licorice eater.

If you could be a member of any TV show family, which would it be?

I’d go with ‘Game of Thrones.’ House Stark—though they didn’t fare too well. Most of them died.

What chore do you absolutely hate doing?

I’m not a huge fan of dusting. Specifically, windows and cleaning windows, windowsills. The dust gets everywhere anyway. It seems counterproductive.

What fictional character do you think would be most interesting to meet in real life?

I’ll go old school and one of the first movies I ever saw: Rocky Balboa. He’s pretty inspirational and awesome. I’ve now rewatched the movies with my kids, which was pretty cool.

What superhero power would you most like to have?

Flying, which goes back to when I wanted to be a pilot. It’d be amazing and efficient, and I’m into efficiency, getting things done quickly. I mean, being invisible would be cool, but how much would you really use that? Unless you’re doing something bad.

What’s your guilty pleasure?

Watching ‘Jeopardy.’ That’s something my wife and I like to do and she usually schools me pretty well.

With whom would you most like to spend a day?

Sir Isaac Newton. I follow Neil deGrasse Tyson, he’s an American astrophysicist, and he was talking recently about Sir Isaac Newton, who of course made all these different discoveries, and he was only in his early 20s. He was super smart and it would be cool to spend the day with him, learn how he thinks, how he lived.

What are you freakishly good at (or bad at)?

I’m unusually good at jumping rope. I decided I wanted to do it as a kid and I got really good at it. It’s pretty useless but fun. Maybe it goes back to Rocky.
